Mounjaro® Price Increases: What You Need to Know

Eli Lilly, the manufacturer of Mounjaro® (tirzepatide), has announced that prices will increase from 1st September 2025.

This change is being made to bring UK pricing more in line with other developed countries.

At CloudRx, we understand that changes to treatment costs can cause concern, and we are committed to keeping our patients informed and supported throughout this transition.

Key Points

  • The manufacturer, Eli Lilly, has confirmed that UK prices for Mounjaro® will rise from 1st September 2025.
  • This increase will apply across all doses of Mounjaro®.
  • The medicine itself is not changing — Mounjaro® will continue to contain the same active ingredient and work in exactly the same way.
  • The decision to raise prices has been made solely by the manufacturer, not by individual pharmacies or clinics.

Why Are Prices Increasing?

When Mounjaro® launched in the UK, it was priced lower than in many other countries to support faster patient access. Lilly has since confirmed that UK prices are being adjusted to align more closely with international markets and to help ensure the sustainability of supply.

As Lilly is the sole manufacturer of Mounjaro®, these changes will affect all providers across the UK, including pharmacies and private clinics.

What Does This Mean for You as a Patient?

From September, the price you pay for Mounjaro® may change depending on your provider. While CloudRx must reflect manufacturer increases in our dispensing prices, our priority remains ensuring:

  • Continuity of treatment without disruption
  • Clear communication about any changes that affect you
  • Support and guidance should you wish to explore alternative options

Your Options Going Forward

  1. Continue with Mounjaro®

You can remain on your current treatment. The only change will be the price point from September.

  2. Switch to an Alternative Treatment

Some patients may wish to consider Wegovy® (semaglutide) or other licensed weight loss treatments. These are available and may represent a more cost-effective option. Our pharmacists and prescribers can provide guidance if you’re considering this change.

Will Mounjaro® Still Be Available?

Yes. There are no concerns about Mounjaro® stock or supply. The change relates only to pricing, not to the availability or safety of the medicine.

What If I Have Concerns About Affordability?

If the new pricing makes treatment difficult to maintain, please speak with your prescriber. Our clinical team can support you in reviewing alternative treatment options that remain safe, effective, and more affordable.

Can I Get Mounjaro® on the NHS?

Mounjaro® may be available on the NHS, but access is limited and subject to strict eligibility criteria. These include BMI thresholds and the presence of certain health conditions. If you do not meet the NHS prescribing criteria, private treatment will remain the primary route.
